Meet with employers, including Jeffcom 911, Brundage Bone and Eco-Pan, Asbury Automotive Group, and many more in the Greater Denver area who are currently hiring at all skill levels. The event is free and open to the public.
RTD Proposed Service Changes 🚌
Following service increases in January 2025 and May 2025 that added thousands of revenue service hours region-wide, RTD staff presented a recommendation to the RTD Board of Directors to again increase service in August 2025. The Board of Directors will consider staff’s recommended service increases in July 2025. The ability to increase service is due to successful, multi-year efforts by RTD to improve recruitment and retention of qualified, skilled employees required to deliver more service. 🏛 What’s Up at Council
July 1st – Business Meeting 👔
The business meeting started with the Housing Authority meeting in which it was shared that the program is facing a $925,000 shortfall due to HUD not calculating inflation into their program rates. The Arvada Housing Authority is applying for additional HUD funds and asking landlords for help in order to address the gap. At the worst, this budget shortfall will result in 55 households losing their funding assistance to remain housed by the end of 2025; the majority of people receiving assistance are elderly and/or disabled. Council instructed the Housing Authority to keep us closely informed on the situation to see if there are ways to reduce costs and raise funds to keep these folks housed and increase access to the program as there are over 3,000 people on the waitlist.
Check out the affordable housing that will be available to Arvada residents very soon:
This meeting had:
A resolution proclaiming Park and Recreation month;
Resolutions on construction services for Alkire street path from 78th to 80th;
Consulting services from the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes for Gold Strike park;
Leasing on the Schaaf house;
Funding to mitigate flood hazards around the Little Dry Creek area;
Ordinances on updating department names and titles;
Reworking the city code regarding fire bans is on the agenda;
A public hearing to shut off water for a resident if the water bill is overdue;
A workshop on water utility rates, fees, and processes.
July 8th – Workshops 🛠️
At this meeting we’ll have workshops on the Transportation Plan and Micromobility. I’m on vacation, so I won’t be there but encourage folks to tune in or attend the meeting to learn more on these subjects.

🙏🏼🌟 Speak Up!
Local Progress asked for elected officials to send videos to Congress to protect our public lands. I created one in addition to calling our national leaders to do everything they could to stop the horrible spending bill. I hope you are also calling, and if you’d like to watch my video, you can do so here: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0b5nJv3UNRVK1UEObcBQf35TQ
Need some motivation to make calls? Here’s Chip to remind you, with a gentle paw, that every call matters.
