Arva-Pride
State of the city, bicyclists, crime prevention, city manager, and phone banking
Hi neighbor!
The State of the City address was an excellent event highlighting the successes of our city’s team. Many thanks to everyone who’s doing their part to make Arvada a thriving place! Also, I want to thank the students from Front Range Community College, who shadowed me last Friday to learn more about what a career in government service is like. These impressive folks are already volunteering for City Council campaigns and are deeply involved in their communities - it was an honor to share time with them for the day!

Bicyclists, Rejoice! 🚴
Arvada was re-certified the Silver level of a bicycle friendly community - so meet up with locals and go on a ride with your neighbors! You can expect to see many improvements coming to the area of 60th and Tennyson, which will include curb cutouts and a dedicated bike-lane that will start once Adams County grants permitting for the project.

🏛 What’s Up at Council
City Manager Announced 🎉
Council directed staff at our April 22nd meeting to extend an offer to Deputy City Manager Don Wick for the City Manager position. I am so impressed by his reputation in the area and am excited for the plans he has for Arvada in making sure the city works for all of us. We conducted a nationwide search and interviewed three candidates this final round, so I feel confident in Don’s qualifications to live up to the City of Arvada’s motto: Dream Big and Deliver.

April 29th – No Council Meeting 🙅♀️
Council doesn’t meet on the 5th Tuesdays of the month. The next business meeting is on May 6th (although I will be out of town at a work conference).
On April 22nd council advised staff to extend our contract with Republic as our waste hauler for the next few years to continue to safeguard against inflation. The workshop on paid parking was also interesting and could raise funds for Olde Town to keep this Arvada gem sparkling! You can review the presentations here:
