Happy Juneteenth - the commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. While celebrations date back to 1866, it became a federal holiday in 2021. The Colorado Sentinel has a great article about the holiday you can read here.

Community walk 🚶➡️🚶♀️➡️
The City of Arvada's Neighborhood Walks provide an opportunity to get outside, learn about Arvada and connect with people in the community.
For this walk on June 21, we are partnering with artist Catie Michel to celebrate the completion of her new mural on Garrison Street, titled "Nature Notes: Ralston Creek." This walk will include a brief discussion with Catie during the planned 3-mile loop.
The walk will start and end at the Garrison Garden Paseo, located at 9209 W. 57th Ave.
Movies Around Town: The Goonies 🎥
Grab a blanket and some popcorn and join us at some of Arvada's favorite parks and enjoy free movies on our giant inflatable movie screen. The 2025 Movies Around Town series kicks off with "The Goonies" on Friday, June 27 at Memorial Park. Live music starts at 7 p.m. before showtime at dusk.

🏛 What’s Up at Council
June 24th – No Meeting ⛔
As some council members are traveling to attend the Colorado Municipal League conference next week there will be no council meeting. July 1st will be a business meeting where — as always — you can come and give public comment if you’d like!
This past council meeting we had a Juneteenth proclamation and a number of city agreements approved.
Of interest the city approved an amendment for its solid waste program that kept the opt-out fee from increasing, locked in the low fee rate that is much lower than the rate of inflation, and gave residents who have opted into the program access to roll off containers at the same price the city can access the containers - once a year for solid waste for $305.07 and for green waste for $415.77.
