Short Term Rentals 🏡
The May 9 shooting in Arvada that took place at an AirBnB has many residents asking about Arvada’s short term rental policies. As your council member, I am in favor of stricter policies on short term rentals as I believe they put pressure on housing supply and increase rental and home prices, and believe that they should be owner-occupied. The property where the shooting occuring had a permit, and its permit was revoked after this incident and the police investigation is ongoing. Our fantastic city team is proactively bringing many short term rentals into compliance, as 65% of rentals in Arvada are operating without a permit.
If you experience a safety issue with a short term rental, please call 911. You can also submit a ticket to our Ask Arvada system to ask if the property is permitted, or send a photo to document infractions regarding a short term property. Documentation is crucial to enforcing our city’s comprehensive codes and laws regarding short term rentals.

🏛 What’s Up at Council
May 27th – No Council 📝
At the last council meeting council unanimously approved a couple of bonds for water projects to make sure our water stays clean and accessible for all residents. I also spoke up in favor of making sure Gold Strike Park in Southeast Arvada is well funded and developed as a wonderful amenity in our district. Next week, there is no council, so we’ll be back on June 3.

🥳 Party up!
The Colorado People’s Alliance is having a party on June 7th (same day as the Arvada Pow Wow!) Let’s celebrate an amazing legislature session that did so much for our communities. The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition will be especially honored at this party for their historic work to pass the strongest legislation in the nation to protect newcomers and undocumented residents. It’s important to take a moment to celebrate and thank the people (including ourselves!) who keep our communities strong. You can get your tickets by clicking here.
